The Department of Biology and Environmental Science

Our department is your gateway to many exciting educational opportunities.  We emphasize small classes with plenty of opportunity to interact with the faculty.  From Anatomy to Immunology and on to Zoology, our courses cover the traditional areas of biology as well as the newest areas of research. We offer degrees in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Health Science and Biochemistry that provide a strong basis for many careers including pre-medical, pre-dental, and pre-vet.

Internship Presentations 2015

Emma Strick did her internship as a naturalist in the Cleveland Metroparks

Biology Fall Campout 2015


On September 25th and 26th, 2015, ten students from the Biology Club and 2 professors took the department’s camping equipment out to the US Forest Service’s Hune Covered Bridge Campground along the Little Muskingum River in the Wayne National Forest.  This campsite is about 10 miles upstream of the department’s Beiser Field Station just east of campus.  In addition to camping, activities included a night hike with UV flashlights to look for florescent millipedes, caterpillars and other creatures.  Dr. Lustofin is studying UV fluorescence in millipedes in particular, and Dr.
